Feign death frag... :)

Postby MaDFoX » Wed Aug 30, 2006 4:42 pm

I haven't checked by myself, but one of my guildies, told me a few minutes ago by phone, if he battle with a hunter, and the hunter use feign death, the pvplog counts the "kill", the text appears, and the kill is in the log too (dual killed hunters... :D)... Maybe a bug (not checked yet)... When I get home, I'll try it too, if I can find a hunter ;) ...

Feign death frag... :)

The WoW API tells us when we have gotten a PvP kill so without looking at the code, my gut reaction is that if it really is happening that it has to be a bug in WoW.

Reason that is probably happening is that at the time I wrote the AddOn there was no WoW API notifying us of a death, instead we parsed the combat strings and when it said "<xyz> dies." we logged that person's death to your PvPLog as long as you did some damage to them. Since now hunter's Feign Death also reports that string in CombatLog it will mistake it for a real death.

The AddOn should be changed to use the WoW API and not parse strings.

I'm studying up on the WoW events and API to see how easy this will be to fix.
