Annyoing PvPLog :( - /stopspamplease!

Postby yamyam » Thu Aug 17, 2006 9:15 pm

Hi all.

When you win/lose a PvP battle, or duel, PvPLog will notify you as the data is recorded.

Whenever you mouseover someone for which you have a PvP record the mouseover tool tip will contain the number of wins and losses you have against that player.
It will also produce an audible ding on mouseover to inform you of a player you have a record with.

At this time a message is also displayed overhead with your record.

When targetting a player you have a PvP record with, your record will be displayed below the target window.

And all of that i do not need. Even my guild is getting pissed because pvplog is annoying like hell!

Is there any way to diable ALL messenges, mousover-crap, oberhead-display and so on? Never seen any config for pvplog where its possible to disable all of the annoying things.

Could anyone recode pvplog?
Could someone publish a "quit" version of PvPLog? ... just logging, nothing else!

Would be more then great, please help because my guild wont use PvPLog anymore with its all annyoing spam and co.

There is an option to /disable PvPLog.
Problem then: Its not logging anymore! :(

Would need something like /diableallspam
while still tracking and logging all pvp data.

In my opinion PvPLog should JUST TRACK all pvp data. nothing more. God knows what the oirgin programmer of this Addon thought by adding all the spam and senseless textinfos.

I will take a look at it later as I am sick of that behavior as well.

I think that I have it working with a display option but I need to test it a bit before I upload it.

I still need to add a mouseover option though.

Hey mrmuskrat,

i love you! ;)

Could you post the tested version when you are finished?
Did you just added options to disable the chat-spam, mouseover and so on or have you just edited / deleted the spamcode?

Thx for your help, would love to see, test and use your version of "Quit PvPLog" 0.5.0 :)

Yes, I'll post the tested version later.

The audible ding has been commented out in the version that I have. If it was enabled, I would add an option for it but for the time being I'll just leave it alone.

The display option works well. I'm working on the mouseover stuff now.

My wife did the testing for me. Everything looks okay to us.

We really should get some translations in there. (I've taken a stab at the German and French translations of most of the commands but left them commented out.)

I incremented the version to 0.5.1. I added four options:
Code: Select all
/pl display [enable|disable]
/pl ding [enable|disable]
/pl mouseover [enable|disable]
/pl nospam

nospam disables display, ding and mouseover.

Enjoy!!!

(See later in thread for the download.)

GREAT!

I gonna test it later with some friends, great job if it works! Will send you response in a few hours, dont got much time now :(

Why increased to 0.5.1? Are you the official Developer of PvPLog? If not i even would prefer to keep it 0.5.0 - just modded:
PvPLog 0.5.0 - NoSpam-Mod Version

You hear from me later ... stay tuned :P

I guess that I changed the version out of habit. I changed three files (PvPLog.lua, localization.lua, and readme.txt). If you don't want it changed you can open localization.lua and change it back, just look for
Code: Select all
VER_NUM = "0.5.1";
.

No, I'm not the official developer. It's an abandoned addon from what I can tell. The latest changes prior to mine were made by folks here at wowroster.net.

Oki, but then ... why not changed the toc? :P

Could also need an upgrade to 0.5.1 and it would be also smooth to upgrade Interface to 11100 ;)

Testing your version now for the next hours ... stay tuned

Ehm, what have you changed in this new version? Just changed the TOC?

Tested the new PvPLog now and works fine, great job, but would be perfect, if there were an option to enbable/diasable also the showing of the info right below the enemy target [PvP: 0/0 Guild: 1/0] for exmaple. Know hat i mean?

Thanks yamyam.

In the corrected 0.5.1, I updated CHANGES.txt, PvPLog.toc, PvPLog.xml and README.txt. All refer to 0.5.1 now and I didn't forget to update the interface to 11100.

Assuming you didn't already do a
Code: Select all
/pl nospam

then to turn off the info showing right below the enemy target, try
Code: Select all
/pl mouseover disable

You can also check the current settings by doing a
Code: Select all
/pl

mrmuskrat:

Don´think so :)

I tested all, enabled/disabled any option to check everything alone and even made a /pl nospam.

But whatever i do, the Textinfo right below the enemy target is still shown.

mouseover is handling the tooltip text
ding is handling the mousover ding-sound
display is handling the chatspam-messages

but there is no option to enable/disable the text right below the target, when a target is clicked.

am i right?

Either I haven't noticed it or it's not happening here. I'll check into it though.
Update: I'm not sure why I haven't seen it but I do see the code needed to fix it.
Update 2: I finally saw it without the fix and I verified that this version does fix it if display is disabled.
