I used to run phpBB forums for several years but recently migrated to e107 CMS.

It might have been a MOD that I added to phpBB, but IN the downloads section, there were some options to turn on in the admin of phpBB, one of them is the date/time stamping of the files upload and when they were uploaded. Brief descriptions were mandatory and long descriptions were optional. an Uploaded By: portion too.

It was a good way to view the files and maintain the lists. I also had incorporated CVS.

The download section we have is just some temporary custom code that just scans a directory and lists the files.

We used to use DownloadsPro when we used DragonFly as our cms, it was a full featured download section.
