Upload not always working

Hi,

I know it's a vague description, but here it goes: I recently set up the WoWRoster and everything is running fine so far.
Then I tried the UniUploader and it worked for me. Our guildmaster tried to upload his files with the UU too, exactly the same way, but it won't update. He's not getting any error message whatsoever, so I have nothing to start with to try to solve the problem.
I'm quite new to UU, so could anyone give me a tip what might be the problem or where I should start looking?

im searchign teh forums right now, so far i havnt foudn anything...

but im having the exact same problem..
im uploading everythign but the guild info.. it just doesnt show up.

After the upload in UU, i go to the site and UpdateRelations and still nothing.

My officer notes are all blank in wowroster and in game they have stuff in them.
so that shows me its not getting the info.

.. sorry to repost so fast..

but after checking the Characterprofiler DOES have the info in it... (the officer notes) it just seems that wowroster is not taking some of this info when i upload.. it doesnt reflect in the status after a UU upload.

HOWEVER.. if i upload directly to the site.. www.MYSITE.com/roster/index.php?p=update&

It receives..
So this must mean that the UU is not working?

But my conflict is that it IS working since it receives my personal toons data.. it just doesnt receive my Guild info.

Any ideas??

First test: forget about UU, just upload your CharacterProfiler the old fashioned way - as an Officer!
Means that you enter also the Officer password, so that Guild info will be taken into account.

Understand that UU ALSO needs this Officer password to have the same effect: Guild Updating – so, did you enter it somewhere in UU?
(I have no UU on my system right now [posting from an iPhone in a train] – but I’m pretty sure the Wiki is very clear about How & What – I presume you understand already the Why part)

Please note that this might be already done by you, but as said above, no log and no words about the subject from you on this matter.

Post your log and things get visual ^^

Sorry for the belated reply, it took a while to get a hold of our guildmaster to send me his log.
I think the problem was a lot more mundane than I thought. He simply entered .../updater.php instead of .../update.php as it should have been, which of course returned a 404 error.
Sometimes things can be so easy to solve. ;D

That's where UU & UniAdmin can be a live safer.

When the webadmin sets up UniAdmin, you can set some Guild wide parameters, like the update URL.

Now, you pack UP your version of UniUpLoader with the CORRECT settings.ini (settings file that is used by UniUpLoader).
It should contain AT LEAST the url to UniAdmin, so it can set itself up correctly.

Your Guild membres do not have to type any URL, they just have to select their toon account, if multiple are present. That's it.
They're updating their toons in the roster without them even knowing about it.
I even made an Officer version of UniUploader : an install ZIP with an ini file with one more setting : the Officer upload password.
Two guys are know updating the roster on a Guild level - an I'm on the beach doing other things ^^

Using UniUpLoader : if your members use WoW addons, like Characterprofiler, Guildprofiler, Omen, etc UniAdmin/UniUpLoader is a live safer.

Btw : setting up UniUpLoader with an installer could cost you some time - but the gain for your Guild members will be HUGE.

Hello !

I have install ROSTER 2.0.2 (before i used roster 1.7.3 with uniuploader and upload ok) and now uniuploader don't upload the file characterprofiler.lua on my roster. I change url and enter this : "http://www.lesrosesnoires.fr/roster/index.php?p=update" but i have the same problem : the file don't upload.

Could you help me please ?

Make sure you have selected the correct lua files in the lua selection box in UniUploader

One thing is missing...
Two logs that might contain usefull information.

UniUpLoader contains a tab being called "Server Reply" and "Debug Info". These exists when you want to check and debug your upload and download issues.
Can you paste here what these two say when you hit 'upload' ?

I'll compare this evening my settings.ini with yours and report back.

Btw : any respectable web server accepts GZIP=True, very handy when your CP.lua is 890 or more KB.

Btw2 : Zanix already asked for the server tab ........... look way up.

Ok.
Now we're getting somewhere.

The last 10 lines of the debug log show the up of your CP.lua - it even says to look at the server-reply page to see the results.

But : your server-reply page show a html page... :scratch:

This is NOT normal.
Again, I'll drop MY result page

TEST : I somewhat took the identy of a player namd Skwal in your roster, and sended it over with the manual procedure.

Conclusion : your roster setup is ok. The upload with (my) UniUpLoader went perfectly well.

It must be your UniUpLoader settings - will post back when I compared with mine (running a bit out of time here ^^)

PS : Sorry to Kswal (your Guild Member) - I took over his char in your roster : if HE updates all will be well - for now, he is a Warrior ^^

You have no CharacyterProfiler in your UniAdmin setup
You have a doubled TitanPanel in your UniAdmin - DONT DO THIS.
