"New" classes (Male/Female class names)

Postby zanix » Thu Apr 24, 2008 8:41 am

Apparently Blizzard, in all their wisdom, decided make "new" class names
So characters that are the same class, different gender, now have different class names

For the English client this is not true, but for the other locales (AFAIK) it is

The community needs to decide how Roster should handle this "problem"

Please use the poll above to vote
This poll will be open for 6 days, at which time the winning vote will be implemented into Roster 2.0

"New" classes (Male/Female class names)

Add an option "Convert classes names" in settings with 3 choices :
- to male name,
- to female name,
- as the are.

"New" classes (Male/Female class names)

Would it be hard to do like niac says and give a 3-way option?

I prefer to keep name as they are, but to combine male and female names for statistics.

If I want to know how many warlocks there is in my roster, I don't care if they are male of female.

"New" classes (Male/Female class names)

Class IDs are now gathered by GP and CP and stored by Roster

So statistics can be shown using the IDs

"New" classes (Male/Female class names)

I'd say use the ID's for any internal statistics or whatever that are currently on name, and show the name as-is.

"New" classes (Male/Female class names)

Postby zanix » Tue May 27, 2008 7:13 am

Well, 21 out of the numerous 31 votes total say we "Leave them as they are (Add "new" names to locales)"

The dev team picked this solution as well since Roster now gathers the race and class numeric ids from the game, and these are not different based on gender

The locale files will need to be updated for the "new" names
The localization effort will begin during the Release Candidate phase
