Re: SQL Error when trying to Sync

I'm a bit shocked that a development/open source site is using Windows-centric software to provide links to open source software....

Obviously this won't run on my Linux box. I think you should really consider providing alternate links if you are going to be providing these software services.

Thanks for the help though.

SQL Error when trying to Sync

Postby zanix » Fri Feb 15, 2008 12:31 am

There are svn (subversion) clients for linux
I wrote the info for SVN connectivity, but I'm on a Windows machine so I don't have much experience with svn under linux and no one has offered to write a guide

The links on http://www.wowroster.net/SVNergy/repos.html are links for ANY svn client, not just TortoiseSVN

I would suggest Google for info on using svn in linux
(I *think* RapidSVN might be available on linux, there are command line clients as well)

As a suggestion, before blasting someone, do a bit a research

SQL Error when trying to Sync

Postby PleegWat » Fri Feb 15, 2008 12:35 am

I've used a python-based SVN wrapper for a while, but nowadays I use the 'official' command-line client. Check http://subversion.tigris.org and http://svnbook.red-bean.com

If you are running linux use yum to install svn, which then you will have full linux svn access.

Code: Select all
yum install svn

SQL Error when trying to Sync

Postby PleegWat » Fri Feb 15, 2008 2:44 am

Package managers are distribution-specific. Fedora (and redhat, I think) use yum. Debian and derivatives use apt-get. Other distributions use other package managers.
The SVN package may be called svn, subversion, or some other name.

Oh, and split and moved the off-topic discussion.

It did sound a little negative...
But I try to respond without yelling back or accusing the poster of a temporary lapse of common courtesy because of a comment that sends me into mass convulsions and incredible urges to slap someone with a giant trout (or salmon)

Either way I apologize and accept your noobishness
