Having Issues with Roster Configuration

Postby Relyimah » Thu Feb 14, 2008 4:51 am

Hello Gentlemen,

I'm really having issues trying to get the Roster installed.

Ok, let me first start out by telling you that I have completeted all steps without issue until I get to Step 4, which as you know says:

Installation Note

Your configuration file has been written, but installation will not be complete until you configure Roster

As soon as I hit
>Continue to Roster Config<
I receive:

settings.php: line[132]
Could not connect to database "myservername_roster"
MySQL said:
1045: Access denied for user 'myservername_admin'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

I am not understanding in the least what is going on here. I turned in a ticket to my hosting provider, they told me that my database configuration was correct (after all, how could I get this far, right?).

HELP. Please.

make sure that your conf.php lookes like this

Code: Select all
$db_config['host']         = 'localhost';
$db_config['username']     = 'XXXX';
$db_config['password']     = 'XXXX';
$db_config['database']     = 'XXXX;
$db_config['table_prefix'] = 'roster_';
$db_config['dbtype']       = 'mysql';

define('ROSTER_INSTALLED', true);

XXXX being the info your isp gave you and the conf.php file is in your root roster dir

Ulminia,

Thank you for your quick reply, it is most appreciated.

My conf file looks like this:

Code: Select all
$db_host   = "localhost";
$db_name   = "xxxx";
$db_user   = "xxxx";
$db_passwd = "xxxx";
$db_prefix = "roster_";

define('ROSTER_INSTALLED', true);
?>

of course the 'xxxx' parts are correct for my account. The file says I should not edit it, but should I just go ahead and edit it to look exactly like what you have there?

And yes, the conf file is in the Root directory.

Having Issues with Roster Configuration

Ulminia posted the conf.php for Roster 2.0 beta
You have the conf file for 1.7.3

Do not use the one Ulminia posted

Just make sure the info is correct in your file

Note to Ulminia, this section of the forum is still for Roster 1.7.3, not yet for Roster 2.0, until it is out of beta

zanix,

All of my info is correct.

It's when it switches over to the admin.php file that it goes all to Hades.

on my site http://www.tmpguilds.com/roster/admin.php

it just says:

settings.php: line[132]
Could not connect to database "therepai_roster"
MySQL said:
1045: Access denied for user 'therepai_admin'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

What's going wrong???

Ack, I guess I should tell you that the TMP Guilds site is a secondary domain to my normal account.

I see that you use Joomla
Find it's conf.php (or config.php) file and look for the mysql connect info in it and copy it over to Roster
