Since the user agent masking is probably not going to happen, I will ask this:

I am in contact with my host about the User Agent for UniUploader. I just switched to byethost, and everything that I have checked seems to be working except uniuploader (and phpuniuploader). I think I can change the user agent for phpuniuploader easily (I can try that tonight).

I have asked them if they can allow a specific user agent for this. Their response was:
"How often. and how many requests will this application be making"

I have no idea what to answer to that. I only have a handful of members that use Uniuploader, so I would assume there would be less than 100 updates per week. How many requests does it make when it checks for addons, etc? Is there anything behind the scenes going on that I don't know about? Thanks.

It will make most of its requests when it gets the addon list, UA version number, lua file list, and settings from UA
I think this only happens when UU is started or when you specifically press the "sync" button
(I think there are 2 separate buttons for sync addons and sync settings)

Getting the addon list, version number, lua file list, and settings are separate requests

So when UU starts, that is 4 requests
And each sync button (if they are separate) is 1 each

Also, if you look in the debug tab (turn advanced mode on first) you can see all the URL requests UU performs, just look for your UA URL

Also, when CP uploads lua files, that is just one POST sent to the sync url, nothing is sent to UA

Thanks for the help Zanix. I just switched over to this host and everything else went so smooth, it's just too bad that they control this so heavily. It's hard to find a free host that allows 3 mysql databases (roster, uniadmin, phpbb) and is reliable and customizable. I sent them the info and we'll see what they say!

I asked them to give me 250 requests per week and they agreed to it. The agent is:
UniUploader 2.0 (UU 2.6.7; English)
But I suppose if the version of UniUploader changes, then I'll have to go through this again... what a shame. I did get phpuniuploader to act as Firefox, though, so that is nice.

See if they can use a wild card for the version number

Also, if any of your users change the locale in UniUploader, the UA string will change as well

as far as the updates, I don't think I'll be releasing another version of UU unless a bug pops up, but it's been so long since a bug has been reported.
