I have installed the 1.7.3 release of WoW Roster with great success. After reading about 2.0 beta and having the time to properly participate I decided to work with that instead.

I DLed the 1432 build extracted at my workstation and uploaded to my server. Once there I ran the install.php within the roster dir and get the following error in the browser:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@dynamictechnicalsolutions.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I took a look at the server logs which stated that it could not find public_html/500.shtml.

Any help or incite to this matter would greatly be appriciated, thanks

The installer code hasn't changed since 1.7.3 so this can be almost anything as well as being very hard to debug

Incorrect permissions on uploaded files (meaning apache has no rights to run them)

The server could have some configuration option that is causing it to error

Do you have any other php code running on your site?
Such as forums, eqdkp, etc...

ok... first thing - Permitions upon upload they were set to 755 and I got an access error so I changed them to 777 on that dir only for the purposes of installation.

Server side error... yup... that is possible and I have an email pending with my provider as well just to see what they say and will keep you posted if this happens to be on their end.

Currently this is my business site... I am setting all this stuff up as a beta site so to speak and will set it all up again on a "real" site once I get everything the way I want it... that said... currently I am running SMF Forums... I can easily remove this completely and try the install again.

I am also running PerlDesk Support Portal for my business portion of my site, however that is not php.

Sorry about the spammage... but since I needed to rework perldesk any way and there were some consistent errors associated with it I removed it from my site for now...

Also changed the file permissions back to a more appropriate setting.

That has resolved this issue to this point... I have not yet tried to finish the install but if I were to come across another issue it would be a different thread if it were not already discussed...

Generic note here: Roster scripts only throw 404. Any other status code means either you're looking at the wrong file or you've got a server config problem.
