*solved* images for MOTD and siggen not working

Hi,

Until today the images for the guild MOTD and the siggen avatar and signature images in the character profiles was working. The seem to have stopped. I have tried checking the chmod for the images but that has not worked. I could do with some suggestions please

Could be a change in your server, you host may have did something

I would view motd or a sig image directly in the browser, then go to view source, there may be errors listed

additional I have checked using phpinfo that png support is still there and is still 2.0.28 GD compatable

I have installed a new theme today but I can't see that causing the error. plus checked on my other themes error is on them too

The theme wouldn't be causing your error
Is there any way to view your error logs via a control panel or another way?

sorry the web server is from a company called 1 & 1 and I don't know how to retrieve the error logs

on closer inspection this morning it seems the problem is on the following type of links

links direct to the image files work fine like this one

Oh crap, this error
On some servers, it just doesn't generate the image correctly.
I have no clue why this happens or what gets changed to make this happen.

I will ask my webhosts if they have upgraded anything but everything looks the same as it did before in the phpinfo

update on this fault. My webhosts 1 & 1 say there is nothing wrong with the web server. Although now I have delved in deeper it appears the df secruity images is not working either. Has anybody had this problem and fixed it so I can tell the numpties where the problem lies.

additional it appears that the webserver was rebuilt on the 31 may 2007 for some reason

ok I have solved this one...

the problem was the old BOM header problem. I had used notepad to edit the main.php file in Languages to include the define _RosterLANG thing and it added to BOM header. Used a compatible editor to edit the file and replace the notepad edited one and hey presto all is good again
