config.php question

Postby Gator81 » Thu Jun 28, 2007 5:59 am

I have created another domain that I am moving my site over to with roster. By doing this I had to create a new database and have all my sql data copied over.
My question is do i only make changes to the config.php file with the new database name and stuff or is there something else that needs to be done?

I did this without deleting the old site, so i can compare between the two and make sure that any changes would be directed to the new database. When I did a update it seem that both were updated at the same time, so I am not for sure if changing the config.php would work, since it says not to edit.

sorry if this is confusing but I just wanted to make sure.

conf.php needs to be changed as well as 2 rows in the config table in the database

I don't recall the exact rows but you will know what they are

I just want to verify this to make sure...

there is a config.php and a conf.php in the root of wowroster for me, they both say the exact same thing....

As for the database, are you talking about the sql database? or the admin to change the path for the website? and I only seen one line for that for the admin. I went into the sql roster_config or something like that and didnt see anything that would suggest a specific path statement.

I am sorry if I am making this harder then what it is :( I made the changes to the php files and everything is still working, I just have not removed the old database until I know I am doing everything correct. :)

There should only be conf.php in the root roster directory

And yes, the mysql database

The rows you need to change are
Code: Select all
1070     roster_dir     /roster     text{128|30     main_conf

But if Roster works on the new host, then this setting won't need to be changed

isint this also changed in the admin for config where you dont have to go into the sql database? I dont want to sound conflicting, I just want to make sure.
1060 (web page www.mysite.com)
1070 (/roster path for the roster on the site)

these can also be changed using the admin. I did notice that I had changed the website address on the admin, but I didnt see it changed in the database.

the path is the same for both sites, but want to make sure that i am using the database that i changed to. I guess since i changed the conf.php and its working then 1060 is just for show not for pathing?

sorry to keep asking just trying to get clearity

config.php question

They can be changed using the Roster Config, but only if Roster works.

Roster uses the roster path to determine where each link points to including form submissions.

So if the path is wrong for the new site, you will never be able to submit any forms until it is corrected, therefore it won't work. That is why you would need to change it via phpmyadmin. This will be fixed for 1.8.

The webpage variable is mainly only for show
SigGen uses it and the link that the header image points to uses that variable as well.
