It's looking good.
Were trying to get as much final functionality into the beta so upgrades to the final version are painless and the addon devs don't have to change their code while the beta goes on.

Yeah, we are looking for a shorter beta period than with 1.7.3
We are hoping for one Beta release and one Release Candidate

This is taking too long. Can I get read access to roster1 svn? I want to go ahead and use 1.8-dev on my personal site so I can have all of my characters (need multiple guild, public roster feature) in my own personal roster.

I'll even post the most detailed bug reports you've ever seen...

Well, we could just make you wait even longer. :tongue:

We will not release a beta until it is ready.

We need to make some serious core changes before we go public beta, so just be patient and it will come.

when you say core changes, can we get a update as to what needs to be done?

also, what time frame "talking months here" are you guys trying to shoot for? I am about to rebuild our site and I have been waiting for this to come out to set up everything at once. So, I want to know if I should just go ahead and rebuild and wait or wait and then rebuild.

Agreed. Plus, I have no issues at all using whatever is in SVN. I'm more than sure it'll meet all of my requirements, and if it doesn't I'll patch the code and send it to you to check in. I'm not asking for a beta. I'm asking for read access to SVN. I know what I'm doing and what to expect (i.e. nothing).

Well, we are trying to convert to storing data in the database as utf8 strings
This requires changes to the lua parser, the database itself, and all the localization files

We promised this change for 1.8.0 since 1.6.0 and it really needs to be done
After this, we can release the public beta

With that said, we are trying to shoot for this coming weekend for the beta
