[FIXED] 0.9.6 doesn't start on mac

Postby Paxton » Wed Apr 11, 2007 10:17 am

I think you changed something in 0.9.6 - I just see the splash screen and then the application terminates...

0.9.5 was running on my Mac...

[FIXED] Need help getting it to run at all on a mac

Postby lhunath » Wed Apr 11, 2007 10:22 am

Any chance you can tell me whether/what jUniUploader spits out on the console?

You can run the script by going to the Terminal (Utilities/terminal usually) and going to the directory where the script is ( cd whereverYouPutIt/jUniUploader/ )

From there, run:
java -jar jUniUploader.jar

Also, make sure you ONLY have .jar files in the jUniUploader directory. Ever since 0.9.4 everything has been wrapped in JAR files. If the other directories still exist, it may be trying to use older code which is no longer compatible.

Also, see if you can get it to start using webstart instead of downloading it.

This is what the console says:

Code: Select all
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassCastException: gui.ToolTip$TipButtonListener
        at java.awt.AWTEventMulticaster.add(AWTEventMulticaster.java:528)
        at java.awt.Component.addMouseMotionListener(Component.java:4849)
        at gui.ToolTip.listen(ToolTip.java:200)
        at gui.ToolTip.<init>(ToolTip.java:116)
        at gui.ToolTip.<init>(ToolTip.java:62)
        at gui.ToolTip.<init>(ToolTip.java:75)
        at ui.Gui.buildUi(Gui.java:297)
        at ui.Gui.<init>(Gui.java:244)
        at ui.Gui.main(Gui.java:2379)

Maybe the problem is Java 6 - there is as far as I know still J2SE 5.0

[PENDING] 0.9.6 doesn't start on mac

Thanks!

The problem is indeed Java 5. I managed to break compatibility with Java 5 in this version. I will have it working again in 0.9.7 I hope; but you ought to be upgrading to Java 6 anyways to have a big load of features in jUU which only work in Java 6. :)
