Heh; people actually use GNU Java?
Anyway! About your questions.
"cleaning up unknown files" makes some addons to update every time.
-> Can you tell me which addons? Also, I'd like your UniAdmin URL so that I can test this out and find the exact problem.
also is "guildmap" (the only "required" addon) always updating
-> Will check that too once I have your UniAdmin URL.
and would it be possible to check automatically if the server supports gzip?
-> Just turn on the checkbox
The server will use GZIP if it supports it, and ignore the setting (revert to the normal method) if it doesn't. There's really no harm done either way.
is it possible to deploy configs? (i upload the webstart file to our homepage server)
-> What you can do with WebStart, is manually download my JNLP file (instead of clicking the image to run jUU, right-click it and select "Save target as ..."). Then, once you have jUniUploader.jnlp downloaded, open it up in your text editor (notepad/vim/exim/nano/pico/whatever you use), and replace the entry I put in it for "uniadmin" by your own UniAdmin URL. jUniUploader will then use that uniadmin URL to fetch its default settings. Then you simply upload that JNLP file to your own webserver and get your guildies to click a link to
your JNLP file, on your guild's webserver. There's a thread in this forum about it too, in case you run into trouble (there's a chance you may need to do a little extra work to set up your webserver correctly).
