website ==> WoW?

Postby foreseit » Thu Mar 29, 2007 11:59 pm

I'm just curious what functionality this has. It seems intriguing, but I can't figure out any situations where this would be necessary. Can someone fill me in? An example or two would be very helpful. :)

Thanks!

It basically takes the manual uploading out of your work. You run that file in the background and every time you log out of WoW it automatically updates your character on your roster.

That's not what wow=>web is for

Thanks for the info. What I gather is that the website -> WoW is an advanced feature that most people will not have use for.

I think there are tons of uses for this feature.

Whether people take the time to develop such applications is another story.

How does the web=>wow function work anyway? Is it something support for which could be added to roster, either in 1x or in R2?

It's one feature I'd love to know more about, but the Wiki says little to nothing about it. Is there a thread somewhere with a more descriptive set of instructions about this feature?

I think the Roster addon shopping makes use of this feature

I don't think it does. According to the instructions, you set the URL in the "Additional URLs" section of the options tab. Not the "Website ==> WoW" section of the Advanced tab.

I cannot find any instructions anywhere on how to format the PHP page required for this. The Uniadmin wiki has no documentation whatsoever and the Uniuploader wiki doesn't give details. Where is it documented?

Hardly, Matt.. This is what the help text tells me in UU.

"Unnamed Textbox: This is the URL in which UU will download the data from."

That doesn't tell me how that PHP page is supposed to be formatted for it to work. The default value in UU is "/roster/uniadmin/web_to_wow.php" which is an invalid page so I have no sample to look at.

well, since UU appends it to savedvariables I'd guess the php page just returns an SV file.
