Error updating wow roster this morning.

Postby Zartose » Wed Feb 14, 2007 3:24 pm

I got the following error this morning when trying to update my Guild Roster.

Its been working fine up till now, maybe it was the patch? I dunno...

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 963741 bytes) in htdocs/nuke/modules/Roster1/lib/wowdb.php on line 341

Any idea what this means?

thanks in advance.

Having a very similar problem here, just updated to Roster 1.7.3.0 this morning and tried to upload my profile and I get this.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 35 bytes) in /var/www/html/roster/lib/luaparser.php on line 127

Any suggestions?

Your CP.lua file may be too big

What do I do? Delete it and let it create a new one? I have total control over the server so I know disk space there isn't a issue.

I haven't upgraded to 1.7.3 going to do that today and see what happens.

Try a '/cp purge all' in wow, save again your character, and do the update again. This will clean a bit the file.

You can probably solve it by relaxing some settings in php.ini or httpd.conf then. Don't go asking me which ones.

indeed, php.ini is the file you have to edit. Change this line:

Code: Select all
memory_limit = 8M

Personally I have it at 16 MB.
Note: This is a system wide setting so it will be for all websites on your server.
If you are using Apache with PHP you can also create a .htaccess file in the root of a webdir and put "php_value memory_limit 16M" in it. You do need to allow that site to override PHP settings (see AllowOverride in the Apache documentation)

I fixed it from the other side, my cp.lua was about 1.5mb, deleted and re-profiled my characters and got it down to about 800k, so it looks like there is a certain amount of bloat in the file over time.
