Screenshot addon?

would any one be interested in an addon for the roster where images from ingame can be uploaded to it and displayed for all to see?

Neat idea, definitely!

Things to possibly consider:

Categories - user definable, think "Great Moments in Guild History", "Special Events", "Just Flippin Wierd!"
Per Character screen shot galleries
Configurable caps on file size (in dimensions and or kb), file types, and max # screenshots per cat/personal gallery.
Maybe a front page with configurable either of 'Random Pic' and/or 'Most Recent'

Not trying to overwhelm, feel free to ignore completely. Just things that have all been neat/necessary in my guild screenshot handling.

with those catagories it would require a login interface and that all guildies have the ability to login this could happen in the future and as for file type this is easy to do and will be set in the conf fileial start working on these changes asap

We already have a photo gallery but I haven't been able to make it look like the rest of the site. I'd love to move our screenshots into a roster addon.

Looks very nice. I think Rihlsul made a couple of good suggestions, but the per-user stuff is probably best kept off till Roster 1.8 comes out.

At this point, you're probably better off just trying to integrate a Coppermine gallery into your site

What are the chances of making this a standalone mod? For those of us who dont have wow roster installed.

Just a basic page to display the images like it is now with the upload options on the bottom. Maybe showing "X" number of images per page.

You mihgt be able to let them choose the folder to upload it to. Like screenshots can be uploaded into different folders and displayed by folder. Newest first. catagories like General, MC, BWL, AQ40, AQ20, ZF, NAXX. users can choose what folder would be best.

just an idea but something like that would own for my guild

I've been meaning to suggest this mod for about a month now. There are two things I would like to suggest.

1. Thumbnailing each image that is uploaded. Downloading 10 full size images and then shrinking them in the browser is not cool. An easy task if you're using linux and have certain rights on the webserver... otherwise I have no idea how you'd do it.

2. Breaking it into several pages with about 9 images on each page. One long page of images is hard to stand.

I coded some php to use the info from phpBB to allow members to upload images on the linux server that I host my webserver on. I make them convert the images to jpg first, though. If you're interested in seeing what I'm talking about or looking at any code, let me know and I can send it your way.

And a third suggestion, try to request a subforum for this idea. It could be easy to lose down here, lol.

Doesn't matter whether you are using linux or windows, it's not that hard to upload an image and generate a thumbnail for it, made something like that in php some time ago that used the gd-lib.

I'll look it up if you're intrested.
