Installation issues with WoWRoster

This program does not work.

Postby Moresia » Sat Sep 09, 2006 12:08 pm

I install as stated in install.txt, I configure in roaster config, I use guild/char profile thing in game, I then upload CharacterProfile.lua, place admin pass, and upload and it gives me this:

Could not find guild in database. Please update members first.

Could not update "Equilibrium". Maybe its not set in configuration?

On front page it gives me this: Could not find guild: 'Equilibrium ' for server 'Ysera'
You need to load your guild first and make sure you finished configuration

I install public version in another directory, it worked fine. WTF?

I just checked my PHPMYADMIN and it seems nothing entered in the config section is actually saving in a db.

If you would READ the Wiki you will see that until you update the roster database, you will get this error.

It sounds to me like you didn't enter a variable correct during the install or the PHP cannot connect to the DB....

Also as stated above, you have to click "Save Settings" for it to push it into the DB.

Maybe some basic troubleshooting and posting a post with some information that would allow someone to actually help you is in order instead or flaming the creators work on their public forums. There are thousands of people who have installed this and use it everyday, so it doesn't appear that is is the application, but possibly the admin?

I love the way some people immediately blame the program rather than calling their own ability or setup into question...

I mean, he/she is totally right... the program must be buggy and the thousands of people that installed it without running into this problem were obviously just damn lucky...

If the install info on the Wiki was in an obvious place, maybe more people would read it. Also , the install documentation isn't very thorough.

Can someone please explain what files need RWX changed before installation?

It says what to do in install.txt
Step 2:
All files and directories should be owned by your webserver's user/group
(Example: chown apache.apache -R *). All .php files should be
readable/executable

$ chmod a+rx -R *.php

As well as in the WiKi
http://www.wowroster.net/wiki/index.php ... all#Step_2

I dunno how more obvious this could be

As for not being very thorough, this is a community project.
