Error Uploading: nothing happening

Postby robweeks » Mon Oct 16, 2006 1:03 am

This used 2 work fine, but its suddenly stopped. i dont know if my host has changed something, if they have i need to know wat it is before i nag.

After uploading, either with UU or using the Upload Webpage (update.php).

The Update Log is totally blank, nothing in it at all.

The Debug SQL section is just:
Code: Select all
SELECT `config_name`, `config_value` FROM `roster_config` ORDER BY `id` ASC;

Nothing more.

I first thought this was a problem with URL Encoding and Siggen as we had a guild members with a bad character. After remving him from the guild, its still happening.

Also i have removed the Siggen trigger to see if that would help but exactly the same problem.

It not that Roster isnt able to get hold of the Profiler data is it? hence the lack of SQL.

Do you have any debug modes in the PHP so i can see what is failing? or any ideas at all? im stumped... purley from the lack of errors

Error Uploading: nothing happening

Is the file you are uploading called CharacterProfiler.lua (case sensitive)?

It's the same file. Case sensitive. Same roster. No config changes. And it won't update easily.

First umpteenth tries failed, giving me a blank screen with in the SQL screen the "SELECT `config_name`, `config_value` FROM `thfRoster_config` ORDER BY `id` ASC;" msg.

I tried several options 'till I deleted the CharacterProfiler.lua file from my wtf<blahdiblah> folder and scanned my char anew. Then I updated with the resulting new CharacterProfiler.lua using the main password. It worked! My main char (the only one I scanned) was updated.

I had forgotten to update the guildlist as well, so I rescanned the guild *and* my char. (del charprof.lua, rescan all in one char (except bank) and do /gp export. Then scanned the char again, 'cause I guessed it's important to check guildlist first. Why? Dunno.)

When updating this, I got it to work. ... sorta.
It was giving error msg's (I'm truly sorry didn't save them) about the profiler not being of the right version. It gave a lot of those. Then it updated my guild perfectly fine (as far as I could check). Unfortunately I couldn't get it to work with either my own charprof.lua or other people's ones... It just gave me the blank stare again...

So:
It seems charprofiler 1.6.3 (ver 10500 in the lua?) is too new? Something at the least is wrong with it?
Last updates for me where Sep 11th Mon, 4:12pm. Then I didn't have a problem. Some others in my guild didn't have problems either. I'm hosted at www.funpic.de (hey! It's free!). As far as I know they didn't change anything... I really suspect the luafile is off.

On which I'd say: Does wowroster give me the blank stare when it detects me updating the same lua file twice? As in, I didn't give it anything new to process, so it skipped it entirely?

I'm a phpnub and not really into coding. I got bugged, annoyed and plainly irritated by something that worked and then stopped working without me changing anything. I would have given a factual response, but I chose to 'tell' it, both explaining what I did and venting frustration...)

edit: - gonna try a lot while deducing stuff

Order for me to get things working:
Delete CharacterProfiler.lua
Scan main character
select it to upload, enter password and 'press enter'.
Worked!

Deducing:
Delete CharacterProfiler.lua
Scan main character (not having changed a bit btw)
select it to upload and click upload (no passw).
Worked!

Delete CharacterProfiler.lua
Scan secondary char *and* main chair (in that order).
select it to upload and click upload (no passw).
Sorta worked...
Secondary char (first scanned) uploaded fine.
Main char did not however, giving this error:
Code: Select all
NOT Updating character [Eyeyun]
Data is from CharacterProfiler v
The version of CharacterProfiler used to capture data for this character is older than the minimum version allowed for upload.
Please ensure you are running at least v1.6.0 and have logged onto this character and saved data using this version.
NOT Updating character [Professions]
Data is from CharacterProfiler v
The version of CharacterProfiler used to capture data for this character is older than the minimum version allowed for upload.
Please ensure you are running at least v1.6.0 and have logged onto this character and saved data using this version.
NOT Updating character [Honor]
Data is from CharacterProfiler v
The version of CharacterProfiler used to capture data for this character is older than the minimum version allowed for upload.
Please ensure you are running at least v1.6.0 and have logged onto this character and saved data using this version.
etc.

Something definately is wrong here - I'm pretty sure Professions and honor (and many more) aren't members of my guild... Eyeyun is btw. I changed the rpga cp version to 1.6.0 - it was 1.5.2 while having the same set of troubles.

And now www.wowroster lost it's database somewhere. I just hope I didn't do that ... While it's back I'm posting what I got so far...

I wasn't able to test more - RL got in the way. A second try with the same lua surprisingly gave me the same results.
Another freshmade lua with two characters in it (a different account with different chars in the same guild on the same physical system) with the chars probably scanned separately (/exit) gave no problems and updated both accounts.

All tests have been done with the 'correct' lua...

I believe the fault of this error lies with the RPGO Profiler and not WoWRoster. We have been encountering the same problem since I updated the Roster to accept the minimum version of 1.6.3, which is the latest. The problem is, when you look at the .lua file it produces you see this:
Code: Select all
["DBversion"] = "1.6.2",
["Money"] = {
   ["Silver"] = 31,
   ["Gold"] = 5,
   ["Copper"] = 39,
},
["Experience"] = "25430:123200",
["ProfilerVersion"] = "1.6.2",
This is reporting a version of 1.6.2 even though it is 1.6.3. Try changing the minimum version to a previous one, like 1.6.0.

I already did - to no avail (you can get previous versions on curse-gaming). It just might be the problem, but I think it's a change in the lua format. Something like how the keybag messed up character gender :cyclops2:

Error Uploading: nothing happening

Postby Llamatamer » Tue Oct 17, 2006 9:42 am

I'm having the same issue where the update stops after running the first SQL query. I've deleted the characterprofiler.lua and created a fresh one and it still bombs.

I have two servers running two versions of MySQL and different implementations of php. (CGI on one and ISAPI on the other). The server running ISAPI and the latest version of MySQL runs perfectly. The server running the CGI php is the one not working. It ran the older version of Roster with no problems but every time I try to upgrade to 1.7 I have to give up because it simply will not read the LUA file correctly.

I guess when I have the time I will update the server to use the ISAPI filter and see if that fixes anything. It just seems weird that it works about 5% of the time and fails the rest.

Previous versions? That is not what I mean. You should keep the current version, but change the minimum version in the Roster config menu. At least that is what our problem was, the version difference was causing it not to update.

Thats not my problem - i tried anyway tho.

It gives no errors at all, no debugs nothing.

From the SQL Debug message tho, im pretty sure it cant read the LUA file.
Running 1.7.0

I've put wowroster at 0.0.0 and 1.6.0/1.6.3 as required version and then changed it back to 1.5.2 - I do have rpgo cp 1.6.3 and have tried rpgo cp1.6.0 --> 1.6.3 works sometimes with 1.5.2 setting (and I presume other settings as well...)

OK I have similar problem.

When I try to upload CharacterProfiler.lua or PvPLog.lua simply nothing is happening for a while and than I get page can not be loaded.

I tried to change premision of the update.php file to 755 or 644 as any other permision will stop file from working. Same thing.
Help please

Sirmika - that's an entirely different problem. It seems you got a page missing in your new install. Are you sure you once had a working version? 'Cause our problem (both from robweeks and me) have to do with existing (previously working) copies.

I have the same problem.
I have 2 char in 2 guild. If I upload the files for the first guild it's work, after I deleted Charac adn Guil and save again, the upload dosen't work. Every time for the first guild works, and for the second don't
